Activities For Students
WORK READINESS TRAINING
Our unique work readiness program prepares our students in our community with practical skills that they can actually use in different work environments. Our unique program is designed to help students with career choices, conflict resolution skills, communication, goal setting, resume building, how to use different forms of technology and practice interview skills.
SELF-ADVOCACY SKILLS TRAINING
Self-advocacy is an important skill that students use in their youth and throughout life. Our self-advocacy program is designed to help our youth focus on being assertive, knowing one’s rights, negotiating and speaking up for one’s self or a cause at work or in any environment.
INTERVIEWING SKILLS TRAINING
Our career coaches work with our youth in exploring commonly asked interview questions. Our youth participants in mock interviews without career coaches. It is essential that our youth understand that interviewing is not a passive process where the interviewer asks all the questions and you simply provide the answers. We teach our students how to demonstrate their skills in an interview.
GOAL SETTING
We help our youth set goals. We work on using visual tools to help us keep track of our goals.
JOB SEARCH
Using our unique curriculum, and with support from our career support employment specialist, we teach our students how to find a job that he or she may be interested in. We also work with our students on how to perform well on assessments that many companies may offer during the application process.
JOB SHADOWING
ODATOC is proud to have unique partnerships with local businesses. We provide tours of local businesses for our students, so that they can get an understanding of the particular career that they may be interested in.
RESUME BUILDING
Your resume needs to be professional and polished! We work with our students on different resume formats. Depending on the personal circumstance, we focus on chronological, personal circumstances, a targeted resume or a combination. We also teach our youth how to use different resume templates.
